Sgt. Ben Allen began his career in law enforcement in August of 2008 with the Middle Georgia College Police Department (Currently Middle Georgia State University). He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2011 and joined the Cochran Police Department as a part time patrol officer in 2012. Ben attended training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center where he became a Drug Recognition Expert graduating with the Academic Achievement Award. He also became a Georgia Post Certified instructor and an Active Shooter Instructor through the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Sgt. Allen joined the Thomaston Police Department in 2016. During his time with the Thomaston Police Department he has served on the Uniform Patrol Division, and the Traffic Unit.  Ben became a certified Firearms Instructor in 2017 and attended Basic SWAT in 2018 where he received the Top Gun Award. Sgt. Allen now teaches and develops firearms training for the department. After being promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2018 he was assigned as the D shift supervisor in the Uniformed Patrol Division where he is currently serving.  Sgt. Allen currently possesses an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice and is working on his Bachelors of Science in Psychology through Columbia Southern University.
