Russell Thompson was hired as City Manager of the City of Thomaston in June 2016. Russell has a Masters of Public Administration from Georgia College and State University and a B.S. in Justice Studies, Minor in Psychology from Georgia Southern University.
Prior to joining the City of Thomaston team, Russell was the City Manager of the City of Summerville, GA for six years. Russell has an additional six years of government experience as a City Planner for the City of Milledgeville, GA., and a Regional Planner for the Heart of GA Altamaha Regional Development Center.
Russell brings to the City of Thomaston a wealth of experience. His familiarity with the many facets of local government, including but not limited to, managing multi-million dollar budgets, employees, departments such as Administration, Police, Fire, Recreation, Streets and Utilities (Water & Gas), is a valuable asset.
Russell currently lives in Thomaston with his wife Jody and their three children.
